Our organization contributes to community development and social inclusion of the Far North Queensland region through the development and delivery of community participation and volunteer involvement services. Our services include volunteer training and education, advocacy, community development and volunteer referrals for a wide range of community, notforprofit member organizations throughout the region. Additionally, FAQ Volunteers leads the not for earnings sector in the region in raising the profile of volunteering to encourage an inclusive and well community and is now a well respected, efficient and effective regional body for volunteering in Far North Queensland. MP funding supports a comprehensive and consistent approach to volunteer management and training throughout Australia. FAQ Volunteers Strategic Plan sets out expectations and commitments for FAQ Volunteers Inc. Board and Staff to work together to face key objectives and goals and operate within a community development framework subsequent a set of principles. Operational staff consists of the Service Coordinator, and volunteers in key roles across all sections of the organization. Looking ahead it was noted a powerful demand for referral services and wants to enlarge FAQ Volunteers Inc. to originate outreach centers on the Tablelands and in MossmanPort Douglas and south to Innisfail. With more than 200 optional positions listed throughout the year and with over 100 registered agencies, which cover an incredibly diverse range and area. Many are administrative positions offering positions such as data entry, receptionist, bookkeeper, information officer and general office duties. Other positions range from cooking in a day respite center to shopping for the elderly and people with disabilities, reading to children, fund raising, sorting clothes for charities, social visiting, planting trees, helping organism exhibitions and community events, greeting tourists and helping newly arrived migrants and refugees. Many overseas students do voluntary labor while they are in Cairns in order to improve their spoken English and profit a greater insight into community life in Australia.
