The members of our congregation have heard a number times that we are in a new year and that this is the time and deposit that God has put us. Jesus’ service of us changes everything for us and for those we are called to serve. But the beauty of the Transfiguration is that we, through the eyes of Peter, James and John earnings a glimpse of the glory of Jesus Christ who is so much more than honest a good leader, or a scholarly teacher, or a good example of how we should live our lives. Humility may be difficult to live out but this is the life that God's Word calls us to as we hear James describe in our Fresh Testament reading, Who is wise and accepting among you? It can be difficult to share our faith, the reason we put our hope in God's plan of salvation, with other people, especially those who are not Christian. And even though we may not always like the answer God gives to our prayers, we are told to lift our eyes to Christ crucified and to trust in God’s solution as he leads us day to day. It means trusting God ample to interrogate and to trust the assist that is offered when you need God’s love and protection for you.
